Advent: The Coming of the King | Week 4
Description
You've been planning, preparing, and purchasing for weeks, or even months, for Christmas. Christmas morning is wonderful, full of joy and excitement. And then, after a few hours, it's over. Soon everyone heads back home, back to work, and by mid January, it seems like we're back to the same old grind. Christmas has a way to creating a longing in us for something more. It is a taste of the goodness and leaves us asking, why can't it always be this good? Why do I have to go back to the daily drudgery? The good news of Christmas is that the Scriptures offer a vision of a complete restoration, "a new heaven and a new earth." The longing we experience points us to a day when Jesus will make all things new, a day that Isaiah 11 describes as an overwhelming and exhaustive worldwide peace.
